In an engrossing IPL 2025 match, Rajasthan Royals (RR) were outplayed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a well-rounded show to record an easy eight-wicket victory. The match saw KKR’s spinners suffocating the batting of Rajasthan before Quinton de Kock’s match-winning innings helped secure the win.
KKR’s Spinners Steer the Ship
After winning the toss, KKR opted to field first, and their bowlers exploited the conditions to the fullest. Rajasthan started at a slow pace, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson trying to build a platform. But Samson’s dismissal caused a slowdown, and KKR’s spinners exploited it to the fullest.
Varun Chakaravarthy and Moeen Ali spearheaded the attack, grabbing key wickets while being extremely tight. Chakaravarthy’s 2/17 spell and 2/23 by Moeen Ali prevented Rajasthan from picking up steam ever. Although there was a resilient effort from Dhruv Jurel (33), RR managed to post just 151/9 from their 20 overs.
De Kock’s Match-Winning Knock
Chasing a score of 152, KKR lost Moeen Ali early on a run-out, and Ajinkya Rahane departed after scoring 18. Quinton de Kock, however, took charge, steadying the innings beautifully. The left-handed batsman mixed caution with aggression, ticking the scoreboard along before gaining momentum towards the end.
Young Angkrish Raghuvanshi provided solid support with an unbeaten 22, and De Kock remained the glamorous anchor of the pursuit. His unbeaten 97 from 61 balls with eight fours and six sixes guided KKR to a victory with 15 balls to spare.
KKR Off the Mark in Style
With this win, KKR achieved their first victory in IPL 2025 and issued a strong warning to their opponents. Their combination of stingy bowling and a nerveless chase is a force to be contended with as the tournament progresses. Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, will look to bounce back and rectify their batting issues in the remaining games.
