Former cricketer Aakash Chopra is taken aback by Rajasthan Royals’ decision to play their initial few IPL 2025 home games in Guwahati instead of Jaipur. He is astonished that the team will be coming back to Jaipur after almost three weeks of the tournament.
Chopra observed that the pitch in Guwahati is not Rajasthan Royals’ cup of tea, as they prefer to play on high-scoring pitches. He also observed that the pitches in Guwahati are similar to Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, and therefore it might be beneficial for teams like Kolkata Knight Riders and not the Royals to have a home team advantage.
This has raised questions concerning how choosing other home locations impacts team performance as well as fan support.
